A New House in Mannerston

A rural setting for this family home lead us to pull references from local typologies found within agricultural barns; looking at the proportions and forms to create pockets of spaces for a young family to live, work and relax in. Accounting for the shifts in seasons, the house has several terraced areas in which to benefit from the light throughout the days.

Our conversations and considerations focussed around what the family need in the short term along with what they can foresee for in the long term; how they see themselves living as the children grow up and how they feel their lives may ebb and flow.
