Arundell Chair

The Arundell chair was inspired by the traditional carved chairs of Scotland and the native Scottish timber which can be found here. The elm was sourced from southern Scotland and was a standing dead elm tree.

The exact nature of the components were to be discovered within the timber, leaving the final design of the chair to be revealed only at the last minute. This journey into the unknown brought an element of risk and the quality of the result depended greatly on the care, judgement and dexterity of Namon Gaston as a maker and designer.

We have worked with Namon previously on numerous projects, all with great success. Jack approached Namon to work with him on this commission which commemorates his late grandfather, Phillip Arundell.
